Play. Explore. Discover. Belong.
We believe children learn through play, exploration, relationships and meaningful experiences.
Children come up with their own ideas, practice communicating with others, and engage in sharing and negotiation. Learning to play successfully with others requires “emotional intelligence”, the ability to understand our own and other’s emotions. Children also encounter new situations in their play, and use their past experiences to come up with novel solutions. Through play, children learn how to learn.
Our educators observe children's interests and create learning experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, creativity, independence and a love of learning.
At Mt Gravatt Kindy our teaching programs and practice aligns with the Queensland Kindergarten Early Learning Guidelines.
These guidelines are informed by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for Australia and embraces the inclusive vision that "all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life".
At kindy, children are encouraged to develop their sense of “agency”. This means that they are trusted to make choices and decisions about things that affect them. We know that children are competent decision-makers, so we offer many opportunities for them to choose what to do and how to do it.
At Mt Gravatt Community Kindergarten and in this special place called Kaggur Mabul '
Land of the Echidna' we acknowledge the traditional custodians of these lands.
We share and care for this space with past, present and future families who explore, discover,
play, learn, laugh with friends and connect with nature on this special mountain.
